1916

The last week of April saw the Easter Rising by Irish Republican groups with a Proclamation of the Republic made in Dublin; quickly put down by Crown Forces. Three unarmed members of the Dublin Metropolitan Police were also killed.

1919 - 1922


The years 1919 to 1922 saw the Irish War of Independence leading to the partition of Ireland. During this period some 500 members of the Royal Irish Constabulary lost their lives, mainly through acts of politically motivated violence. The Rank of T/Cadet here refers to the Temporary (Officer) Cadets 
of the Auxiliary Division.
