Died 28 June 1940, aged 33

Having reported for duty during an enemy air raid at St. Peter Port, he was
tending to a seriously injured man at the harbour when a bomb exploded
nearby and he was struck in the head by shrapnel and fatally injured.

 'Chipper' Bougourd had completed seven years service in the Guernsey Police;
he is the only member of the force known to have been killed in the line of duty.

He was survived by his wife and son.

His name was entered on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
Civilian War Dead Roll.
