Andrew Harper

Died 15 August 2019, aged 28

Following the theft of a quad bike late at night near Sulhamstead, PC Harper attempted to arrest suspects escaping in a car but was dragged behind their vehicle for a mile, receiving multiple injuries from which he died at the scene.

A man aged 18 and two youths aged 17 were charged with murder but at their Old Bailey trial in 2020 all three were convicted of manslaugher; the 18 year old car driver was sentenced to 16 years and both youths to 13 years imprisonment.

Andrew joined the force as a Special Constable in 2010 and became a regular police officer in 2011. He was working on the Roads Policing Proactive Unit based at Abingdon Police Station.

Andrew is survived by his wife, having been married just four weeks earlier.

Died 6 October 2019, aged 47

Dorset Police

Whilst walking to work at Bournemouth in the early morning
he collapsed and died from heart failure.

Jon served 10 years with West Midlands Police before transferring to Dorset in 2007 working in a variety of posts most recently with the CID at Bournemouth.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

Died 3 September 2019, aged 51

Police Scotland

Collapsed and died whilst in attendance at an incident in Montrose, Angus.

Roy joined Tayside Police in 1990 working at Forfar, Friockheim and Carnoustie, then ten years in Arbroath before returning to Forfar and becoming an integral part of the Montrose and Brechin Community Policing Team in Angus.

He is survived by his wife and two children.


Colin Fox

Metropolitan Police

Died 1 May 2019, aged 56

Metropolitan Police

Collapsed whilst policing Richmond Park as the Safer Parks
Partnership Sergeant and died the same day.

Colin joined 1996 serving at Merton then Lambeth in 2005; promoted Sergeant 2009 he joined Royal Parks Command in 2015 including recent Acting Inspector duties.

He is survived by his wife and three sons.


Kevin Flint

Died 15 January 2019, aged 52

Thames Valley Police

Died whilst driving home from duty at Chesham in the late afternoon, his motorcycle collided with a stationary vehicle after he lost control when he was struck by a pheasant on the A41 near Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire.

Kevin had 27 years service starting at Chesham, he also worked at Prestwood, Amersham and Taplow and trained as a firearms officer, before returning to Chesham as a neighbourhood officer.

He is survived by his two children and his partner.
