PC William Perry

Died 31 December 1872, aged 36

Approached by a man he knew who without warning stabbed him dead.


Insp Evelyn David Jenkins

Died 1 November 1936, aged 49

Killed while on patrol when hit by a car, which had gone out of control.


Killed in enemy air raids off duty or duty status unknown:-

SC Edgar Inglis

Died 2 January 1941, aged 40

Insp Harry Davis

Died 26 February 1941, aged 54

SC Ivor James Scott Salisbury

Died 28 August 1942, aged 48


PC Evan Thomas Davies

Died 11 December 1941, aged 31

Shot dead questioning two youths in possession of a machine gun.


PC Allan Beattie

Died 13 April 1952, aged 26

Killed when struck by a car while arresting two men in the roadway.


Swansea Borough Police


PC John Gammon

Died 28 July 1904, aged 42

Died of sunstroke a few days after he was assaulted making an arrest.


PC Thomas Dix

Died 3 April 1917, aged 35

Found drowned in the dock 4 weeks after being missed from his beat.


PC Jack Harold Jenks

Died 1 September 1940, aged 24

Killed by a bomb splinter directing soldiers to a shelter in an air raid.


Sgt William Bolton Flitter

Died 21 February 1941, aged 43

Killed by a high explosive bomb during an enemy air raid.

Died 22 November 1932, aged 27

P/Fm Harold R. Bulley

Died 28 November 1932, aged 26

Fatally injured when buried by the collapse of a wall while fighting large fires.

Sgt Edward Vanstone

Died 7 March 1871, aged 54

Died of an internal injury caused by exertion during a violent struggle.


PC Walter Shillum

Died 4 May 1910, aged 37

Died as a result of injuries received when stabbed during an arrest in 1908.


PC Hugh Oliver

Died August 1930, aged 37

Fatally injured when avoiding a child while cycling home from duty.

Died 29 April 1941, aged 37

SC Clifford Stanley Higgs

Died 29 April 1941, aged 32

Killed as a result of enemy action during an air raid Cwmparc.


PC Richard Hart

Died 3 February 1946, aged 43

Killed while on patrol duty when he was knocked down by a motor car.


PC Gregory D. Roberts

Died 9 January 1959, aged 21

Fatally injured when hit by a cab, checking vehicles at Barry Dock.


PC Albert T. Dunsford

Died 22 April 1963, aged 44

Fatally injured in a road accident while observer in a patrol car.

Died 12 August 1969, aged 21

Fatally injured in a motorcycle crash attending an emergency call.


PC Leslie Thomas Sears

Died 21 July 1970, aged 28

Fatally injured in a road traffic accident while on traffic patrol.


PC Geoffrey John Allsopp

Died 9 December 1970, aged 24

Killed in a motorcycle accident.


Ch/Insp Trevor Harold Smith

Died 18 November 1972, aged 40

Killed in a road accident, examining students on a police driving course.


Sgt Clifford Percival Thomas

Died 3 October 1974, aged 49

Fatally injured in a road accident instructing on a motorcycle course.


PC Gary Jones

Died 28 June 1979, aged 30

Killed in a motorcycle accident.


PC Graham John Roberts

Died 2 August 1980, aged 30

Killed in a road traffic accident while going off duty.


PC Jeffrey David Phillips

Died 22 July 1983, aged 35

Killed in a road accident while instructing on a motorcycle course.


PC Kevin Mood Williams

Died 23 October 1986, aged 31

Fatally injured when his police car crashed while pursuing a vehicle.

Died 2 November 1994, aged 28

Fatally injured in a motorcycle accident going home from work.


PC Anthony Randolph Ashmore

Died 31 March 1996, aged 38 

Killed in a motorcycle accident responding to an emergency call.


PC Ian Charles Godfrey

Died 20 June 1999, aged 30

Killed in a road traffic accident while observer in a patrol car near Swansea.


PC Garry Wozencroft

Died 30 June 2000, aged 35

Killed when his police patrol car crashed pursuing a suspect vehicle.


Sgt Mark Woodward

Died 14 June 2002, aged 30

Fatally injured in a motorcycle accident while travelling to duty.


PC Andrew James

Died 2 August 2003, aged 38

Killed when struck by a passing car while chasing a burglar on foot.


PC Daniel Paul Thomas

Died 20 February 2005, aged 34

Killed in a motorcycle accident while travelling home from duty at Barry.
