Died 11 April 2023, aged 43

Whilst responding to an incident at Broseley in Shropshire, alongside paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service, he was taken ill and collapsed, and despite the paramedics' efforts to save him, he died.

Andy joined West Mercia Police in 2015, after started his police career in 2007 with West Midlands Police, after serving in the Armed Forces for seven years. During his service with West Mercia Police he worked in Kidderminster, Stourport and most recently within the Safer Neighbourhood Team for Broseley and Much Wenlock.

He was survived by his wife, also a West Mercia officer and their two daughters.

Nottinghamshire Police

Died 29 August 2023, aged 46

On the evening of 24 August he reponded to a report of a distressed man seen on the railway line at Balderton; he went onto the line to rescue the man as a train was approaching and was taking him to safety when struck by the passing train, receiving injuries from which he died in hospital at Nottingham five days later, while the man he rescued suffered electrocution injuries but survived.

Graham originally joined the Metropolitan Police in 2013, before transferring to Nottinghamshire Police in February 2017, where he worked as a response officer at Radford Road Police Stastion and as a newly promoted response sergeant at Newark.

He was survived by his wife and their two young children.

Died 30 January 2023, aged 57

Having reported for duty at Stevenage police station the previous evening he was found by colleagues collapsed at his desk having died suddenly.

Bruce had 20 years service with Hertfordshire Constabulary, he worked as a forensic collision investigator with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertforshire Road Policing Unit and was a member of the police motorcycle escort team.  

He was survived by his partner and two daughters.

Died 27 February 2023, aged 47

Whilst driving home after finishing duty he collapsed
and died suddenly from a medical condition.

Neil had 17 years service joining West Yorkshire Police in November 2006 following army service, before transferring to Northumbria Police in July 2010. He worked in Newcastle on the Response Policing team and as a Public Order Tactical Advisor.

He was survived by his wife and two daughters.

Dyfed-Powys Police

Died 29 June 2023, aged 43

Dyfed-Powys Police badge

While travelling home from work during the afternoon, he was involved in a
two-car road traffic collision
on the A470 near Rhayader and died at the scene.

Gareth was the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) Inspector for Dyfed-Powys Police where he had served for 21 years, including 8 years as an armed response officer before joining the RPU in 2012. In 2017 he was awarded a Chief Constable's commendation with his son for the off duty arrest of a robber despite being on crutches at the time.

He was survived by his wife and three sons.

 West Midlands Police

Died 22 September 2023, aged 45

West Midlands Police crest

On what should have been his rest day, he was walking to Smethwick police station to assess recruits in support of a force recruitment drive when he was hit by a car, receiving injuries from which he died in hospital the next day.

Paul had 21 years service and led a Wolverhampton neighbourhood police team. In 2017 he received both a Chief Constable's award and a Royal Humane Society certificate for giving life saving first aid to two stabbing victims.

He was survived by his wife and two children.
